Setting the Course
The role of parents in spiritually directing their children.
Object: A compass
Isaiah 30:20
Our spiritual compass is the Word of God. It points us to Jesus every time. He is our destination and He is where our focus must be. Our intellect and reasoning powers, along with the worldly pressures can point us in the wrong direction. We need to find “true north” or “the truth”, so that our family can stay on course and reach our home in heaven. Parents, you have an awesome responsibility to guide this child. His spiritual direction will be set by you, his parents. There will be many forces pointing him in various directions, so your instruction to him must be very clear. And if you are going to give correct spiritual direction to your child, you will need a reliable spiritual compass. Let the Bible be your compass. When you read, study and obey the Bible, God will give you direction through the Holy Spirit and He will guide you in the best path to take.
